What it's all about...

It goes without saying that Madeline is the coolest thing since the other side of the pillow, but just in case you weren't convinced......

A few months ago, Madeline's cousin, Carter, got a scooter. She called it "his scooter with one foot off and one foot on" and she wouldn't stop talking about it. So, we told her that if she saved her money she could buy a scooter like Carter's. So, the quest for the "One Foot Off, One Foot On" Scooter had begun. Madeline would collect money wherever she could find it (on tables and nightstands, in the car, in her mom's purse) and we would supplement her earnings with occasional pockets of loose change. Well, one day we counted up all of her money and she had about $20 (the price we had planned on spending for her scooter.) So we went to the store and picked out the perfect scooter (one with Disney Princesses on it). Then we thought that we should also get her some protective gear as she is closely related to her mother who, the first time she put on roller blades soared down the monstrous hill (and by monstrous hill, I mean nearly flat ground) outside our first apartment and wiped out in the gravel along the side of the street and never wore roller blades again. (Garrett: I, too, enjoy long, descriptive sentences!) So, we picked out a matching helmet, knee pad, elbow pad combo and brought the whole mess home to put together for her. We did all this in the dead of what has been the longest and coldest winter I have ever experienced (at least until I will complain about winter next year.) So, when the scooter was put together, and Madeline safely wrapped in her Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Pocahontas protective gear, she started off riding in circles around the wall the divides our kitchen and living room. She rode for about an hour an had to be coerced to put the scooter away and go to bed. Since then, she has had the chance to ride outside and is getting better at riding that thing around. She is still very particular that her scooter is the kind with "one foot off and one foot on." We liked the phrase so much, we had a blog named after it.

I had no idea that's where your blog name came from. It totally sounds like something Madaline would say. And that picture of her is great.

She is too cute! We need to get all these 3 year olds together for a one foot on, one foot off photo. Rylie got that scooter for her birthday last year. She loves it.
