Lunch on the lake

(my attempt at an artsy photo of the canoe hanging on the fence in our back yard)

When Jared and I lived in Pennsylvania we lived right by a beautiful little lake, Lake Edinboro. It was surrounded by trees, a little beach on one side, and a little neighborhood of lake houses near by. We used to drive around and pick out the lake house that we would someday live in.

The summer that I was pregnant with Madeline I bought a canoe from someone in our ward and gave it to Jared for Fathers Day.

For the rest of the year we made good use of the canoe. On my way home from work I would swing by a deli and get some dinner and we would drop the canoe in the lake. I think that the fish and ducks looked forward to our canoe dinner as much as we did.

Jared would paddle and I would sit. The sound of the ores splashing in the water was therapeutic. I don't think that I have been that relaxed before or since.

I believe that our friends Stephanie and Todd even used the canoe to kick start their happily ever after.

I love the canoe. I miss the canoe. I miss those days. I miss the alone time with my husband. I miss PA.

That sounds so romantic. I'll watch the kids and you and Jarad can take a spin in the canoe. :)
