Laundry

(This is my laundry pile today. Nice stack eh?)
There was a time when me and the laundry got along. I would spend a couple of days doing a little bit here and there. The laundry used to be convenient dare I say easy.

Fast forward 4 years. Add a bigger house, a set of stairs, an extra kid and no room for anything. Me and the laundry have had it hard since we moved into our house 3 years ago.

This month it has really been nagging at me. So I have made myself a goal to figure out my laundry issues and fix it. I have been trying a few things but nothing has stuck so far.

Here are some of the laundry solutions that I have come across.

(The Nester's laundry room)
One of my favorite Blogs to read is doing 31 Days to a Less Messy Nest (notice that the nest isn't perfectly clean just less messy). She has written a couple of things about laundry that I have liked. I think that she has the right idea here. It is kind of the way I used to do laundry before the laundry was in the basement.

This video from Studio 5 was so interesting. This woman cut her laundry time down from 13 hours a week to 3!

Wha!!
I know!

Watch the video and see how she does it. If any of you have the room for the setup that she has than you have got to try this. It makes complete sense.

If I only had her closets and her laundry room.

So I am wondering if any of you have any tricks that help you with the madness that is the laundry?
Leave me any and all comments. I am desperate!

Jared's laundry suggestion:

"Do the laundry instead of writing about it on my blog."

Good advice. I'm going to strongly consider that. Thanks Babe.

Did we blog about laundry at the same time? It's a big deal, huh?

Today I finally got around to putting a basket in the laundry room for the "give-away" clothes or the out of season clothing that needs to be boxed. It helps out so much! It's under a counter so the kids can't go through it again and put the clothing back on and start the cycle again! I really liked the video. Also, I think I'm going to find a way to put all the kids' socks in baskets near our back door. Thanks for posting!

Good video, Liz. I think I might use the hanging up idea because we have enough closet space. I also like not folding the pjs or socks. HUGE timesaver there. I have serious laundry issues and feel like I spend all weekend doing laundry. One thing I have found that helps is to have a laundry sorter in the laundry room (3 sections-I found it on clearance at ShopKo). Our laundry room is on the main floor so it's nice to have it there for kitchen towels and random kids clothes. I'd love to see what you come up with. (I too love the Nester!)
