Madeline Turned 7 years old this week.
She has grown up so much. I can't believe how much older she looks compared to last year. She is a big 1st grader now so what else did I expect.
We were not going to have her a birthday party this year. The main reason being that she turns into a brat around her birthday, especially when there is a party in her honor.
Well, she made a very good case for herself and we planned a party with one condition, that she be nice. She had 5 chances. If she was really bratty 5 time we would call off the party even if it was the day of. She was most upset over this condition and proceeded to test it by loosing a chance right off. she used them up right down to 1 left and she came close to loosing her party that morning but luckily her ride to school showed up.
Anyway, she chose to have an Angry Birds Party. That seems to be the theme for our family this year. We put together a pretty fun party.
We held it at our church gymnasium. I didn't like the idea of kids throwing stuff in my house. The church worked out perfect.
The balloons were about the only decoration.
For the download of the Angry Bird faces click HERE.
note: print them on light weight paper because card stock is too heavy and they won't float.
For the cake I was planning on making birds and pig out of marzipan but then I saw this game and thought if I could get my hands on that it would save me a lot of time. Every store in the world (West Jordan area) was sold out and almost laughed at me for not knowing that. Then I called K-Mart, they had 2! I raced there to buy it. Turns out I scored the coveted game of the Christmas season. It looks cute on the cake and My kids have not stopped playing with it since we got it.
In Stead of cups of punch for the kids to spill I bought a case of teeny water bottles and put angry birds on them. I got the images Etsy. They cost $2.75. They made drinking water a little more exciting.
Thanks to Susan's smart idea we had a pig pinata that I made from a smiley face pinata that I bought at the party store.
The most important part of this party was the Angry Birds bean bags. (black bird not shown)
I made them out of felt that I mostly had
( I had to buy a little but only like $3 worth).
Note: if you try to make these sew them together first then hot glue the faces on. A sewing machine does not sew through hot glue very well.
I Filled them with OLD dry pinto beans that I already had and they were the hit of the party. Not because they were cuter than cute but because they got to spend an hour and a half throwing them at the tower of boxes below.
Jared usually has a large supply of empty clay boxes at the school so I took all he had and we built this. The kids took turns knocking it down with their bean bags and then Jared would build it again and they would knock it down, and so it went.
I think it was a pretty good party. Most of the kids told me it was the best party ever so... ya, I think it was a success.
Thanks to Hayley, Garrett, Tori, DeAnne, and Susan for all of their help.
And of course a big thanks to Jared, He made the party a ton of fun.
I'm glad he made it.
