Grandpa got home from the hospital the other day and he is not allowed to use his left arm for a while until his pace maker heals. We haven't seen him since we've been back from Pennsylvania, so Friday Madeline and I took him and Grandma some lunch and did some things for them. It has been so long since we have seen them, I forgot how much I love being with them. They are so cute.
One of the things that we did was grocery shop for them. Grandpa gives really detailed instructions, so it took about 45 minutes to finally leave for the store with the list of 8 things, the instructions of where things go in his wallet, and how to cash a check (10's and 5's). Once we had our list and knew exactly what Grandpa wanted us to do, we headed to REAMS. The first thing I did was cash the check. I told the lady that I was cashing it for my Grandfather and asked if she needed his I.D. or my I.D. and she looked at the check and said "No, we know him. Is he sick?" As she took out the cash I started to say that he wanted mostly 5's and 10's and she already had $175 worth of 5's and 10's out on the counter. She said "I know, he likes to give them to people."
Then we collected the grocery items that they needed and checked out. I went to pay with his card and could not remember were he kept it so it took me a minute. The cashier was just watching me. When I found it I asked if she needed an I.D. She said, "No, I know how this is for. Tall old man?" She knew Grandpa just from looking at his wallet!
I just laughed on my way to the car. That is what I would call famous. I would love to go to the store with him one day. I bet it would take a good 2 hours between the grocery shopping and the visiting with all of his fans.
